Skin resurfacing minimizes common signs of aging and improves the tone and texture of the skin for a more youthful appearance. During treatment, skin resurfacing removes the outer layer of damaged/aged skin to reveal fresh and healthy looking skin underneath. Two common methods are chemical peels and laser skin resurfacing. These treatments are less invasive than plastic surgery yet still very effective facial rejuvenation options.

WHAT SKIN RESURFACING IMPROVES

Skin resurfacing treatment can improve the following concerns:

  • Mild to moderate wrinkles and fine lines
  • Areas of sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Brown spots
  • Blotchy complexion
  • Acne scars
  • Superficial scars from a facial injury
  • Large pores

During consultation, Dr. Guyuron will perform a physical examination of your skin, noting the imperfections and areas of concerns. He will note characteristics of your skin, such as its degree of elasticity, and evaluate the degree of correction necessary. He will then use this information to recommend a course of treatment.

LASER SKIN RESURFACING

During a laser skin resurfacing treatment, Dr. Guyuron will use a carbon dioxide or erbium laser to gently ablate the damaged outer layer of skin that is wrinkled, scarred, lined, abnormally pigmented or otherwise flawed. The laser light penetrates the surface of the skin to a very precise depth; then, it vaporizes the outermost skin cells. The laser energy will also stimulate the body’s production of collagen, which is essential to beautiful and healthy looking skin.

During the recovery process, the damaged skin is replaced with healthy and younger-looking skin. The entire complexion will look smoother, tighter and more even after treatment.

Laser skin resurfacing recovery typically includes some redness, peeling and a tight sensation. Most of these side effects subside approximately 10 to 14 days after treatment; at that point, makeup can be applied to conceal any residual redness. The lighter lasers may require only two days recovery.

Dr. Guyuron will advise the number of treatment sessions needed to achieve the desired results. In many cases, a single treatment is sufficient, if a deep resurfacing is done.

DERMABLADING

Shawn Guyuron is an aesthetician at the Zeeba Clinic with over 10 years of experience in skin care products, treatments, and procedures, including dermablading.

Dermablading is a highly effective and safe way to deeply exfoliate the facial skin.  Our skin cells die every day and new cells are produced.  Dermablading removes the old, dry, lifeless cells to reveal fresh and vibrant skin.  Dermablading can also remove the vellus hair, or “peach fuzz”, around the jaw line, leaving the skin completely smooth and glowing. However, those who are prone to acne breakouts should use alternative methods to exfoliate the skin because this procedure could increase breakouts.

A sterile surgical scalpel is used to gently scrape along the facial skin, removing dead skin cells and vellus hair. This removes 2-3 weeks of old skin and can be repeated within 3-4 weeks.

It is a safe procedure when done by a highly trained professional aesthetician like Shawn Guyuron. Shawn is an aesthetician at the Zeeba Clinic with over 10 years of experience in skin care products, treatments, and procedures, including dermablading. Shawn recommends following up this procedure with Obaji ZO Stimulator Peel which is a mixture of lactic, citric, and glycolic acids to maximize the exfoliation, stimulate cellular turnover, and enhance and extend the results of dermablading.
