Every plastic surgery procedure and patient is unique, and Dr. Guyuron will discuss post-surgery instructions with you in advance.  However, there are bound to be additional concerns that come up later.  Whether you forgot to ask these questions or you need a refresher, you can always call our office and talk to a nurse. WHEN CAN I RESUME MY NORMAL ACTIVITY AND ROUTINE, INCLUDING EXERCISE?

Most patients can resume normal activities and exercise 3 weeks after surgery.

ARE THERE ANY MEDICINES I SHOULD AVOID AFTER SURGERY?

It is important to avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen products for 1 week after surgery.

HOW LONG WILL I BE IN PAIN?

Most cosmetic surgeries produce minimal pain that subsides within a day or two. More invasive procedures can take longer to heal, so the skin will be sensitive for up to a week.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM HEALING PROPERLY?

You will be closely monitored by Dr. Guyuron and his nursing staff to make sure you are healing properly. Dr. Guyuron’s staff encourages their patients to contact the office if there are ever any questions or concerns.

WHEN CAN I USE MAKE UP, LOTIONS, HAIR AND OTHER BEAUTY PRODUCTS?

Most patients can use these products 1 week after surgery.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE WHAT I WILL LOOK LIKE?

In most cases, your results will be noticeable within days of having surgery, as the swelling and redness decrease.  However, rhinoplasty results can take up to 1 year to fully realize.

Additional post-op instructions will be given to you on the day of surgery. Please be sure to follow these instructions closely and ask questions. As always, please do not hesitate to contact the office should you have any additional concerns after surgery.
